I used pattern ****, and a cotton fabric I found at Joanns.

She will be able to wear it in the spring and summer with a shrug. 

I also like how it turned out, except that the zipper doesn't line up at the top... and I was too lazy to fix it since I figured she would be wearing a sweater/shrug with it anyways.  :)

New dress for M

I am r.e.a.l.l.y. behind in posting the projects I have completed.
I know I didn't really speak about it on here, but I volunteered my time for the first half of the school year, teaching some high school students how to sew.
I had help, so I wasn't alone, but it still took up lots of time during the week.
I am glad I did it- the students all seemed to have fun, so it was not time wasted.
I am now in my second week without teaching (they moved on to cooking), and am enjoying my new found free time.
My oldest started Kindergarten back in Aug, which is also when I started teaching, so I am now feeling what it is like to only have 1 child home 2 days a week.  I am liking it so far!
So, here is a dress I made for M a few months ago.

I used a decorative corduroy, and butterick 4852 as the pattern.
I really like how it turned out, and only wish I had made it a little longer.  She is not the most modest 3 yr old, and often protests to wearing tight or leggings.  I improvised, and cut down a pair of leggings that had seen better days.

She now has some legging shorts to wear underneath- which she likes so no fighting!

got a few things done

Yesterday was sanity morning- I get together with 4 other Mom's and every other week, 2 Mom's babysit all the kids, while the other 3 get to go and do whatever they want from 9-2.  Well, yesterday one of the other Mom's picked up my kids, and took them to the hosts house where she was babysitting.  She offered to bring the kids back too.  She picked them up around 10:00, and didn't drop them off until 4:00!  I got sssooo much sewing done!  I had toyed with cleaning the house, doing yard work, washing the car, but sewing won!

I absolutely love how this dress turned out.

I wanted to make her a few dresses for school, but when I don't have a pattern, I find it hard to make sleeves... at the school she will be attending the shoulders need to be covered.

I think it's the fabric that I love so much, I'm not sure it would look as great in a lighter, less vibrant color, but I may have to try it out. : )

I made another set of matching-but-not-quite dresses for the girls too.  We are going camping this weekend, and I find dresses the easiest for going to/sitting at the beach.  My youngest loves wearing dresses, the older one, not as much, but if I set one out, she will wear it.

This dress is for H.  She liked Mikenzie's dress, and wanted the same one for her girl.  She is a older than Kyleigh, so it fits big on her.

I heart Sundresses

I heart Sundresses! They're dressy, comfy, and cute! I used a dress I loved from last year, and made it a little wider/longer for her this year... LOVE it! I plan on making a bunch in different styles for my kiddo's for the summer... as long as I get some darker fabric since I'm not too great at getting stains out...

New dress for K

K needed a new dress for church, so I took the bodice from one pattern, and the dress from another, added a zipper, and voila!

Dress for J

I made this dress for J for her birthday gift. J's Mom picked out this fabric for the dress. She loved it. she is a really tall girl for her age so now she finally has one that sits well below the knee!

New dresses

I visited my sister this past week, and she showed me some dresses she made for her little girl. They were so cute! She used a pattern from Portabello Pixie, and let me borrow it. Here are the ones I made for my girls. They love them too, and didn't want to take them off.
